Josh Jaster is the owner and team leader of The Jaster Group, serving the Fargo-Moorhead area, Lakes Country of Minnesota, and communities along the North Dakota-Minnesota border. Since 2016, Jaster has helped more than 500 people buy and sell real estate, and in 2022, he closed $25 million in sales volume through 104 transactions.

Jaster’s interest in real estate sparked after reading “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. “This book changed my mindset around success, money, and risk,” he explained. Jaster, who previously worked as a loan officer at a bank, realized that working in sales could accomplish the financial success he envisioned for himself and his family. Jaster already owned a home and a rental property, and after speaking to his own Realtor,® he joined their team as a buyer’s agent.

After a couple of years, Jaster became a solo agent. “I was reading 52 books a year, writing affirmations, doing all the things you are supposed to, and achieved a good GCI,” Jaster explained. “I was making more money than I ever had but slowly stopped doing all the things that helped me achieve success.” When the pandemic hit, the entire economic landscape changed. Jaster, a student of history, was excited about the potential for something “cool” to happen through changing times.

Since starting his career, Jaster believed he had it in him to be a real estate team leader, which was his next direction. His mother became his first part-time administrative employee and then a top-producing agent on his team. Jaster studied leadership literature, concentrated on his tasks, and added team members as his business achieved milestones. “It mushroomed quickly,” he explained. “Since the inception of the team, I’ve been self-aware enough to know that there are some things that I do well and other things like paperwork, marketing, and implementation that others can do more effectively.” As the team grew, Jaster taught agents how to succeed by leveraging structure and time-blocking activities for lead generation and practice. “We try to have fun even in the parts of the work that we do not like to do,” he explained. “The mission of the team is to spread joy and empower people.”
