Daryl Owen is the owner and operator of Nickle Team and the founder of seven different real estate businesses, including Nationwide Real Estate Executives (NRE), one of the largest independently owned U.S. brokerages. In addition, Owen owns an investment and property management company, a commercial real estate firm, an escrow company, a technology company, and a school that provides real estate licensing and education to over 10,000 students.

When Owen was 14 years old, he was already dreaming of a future in real estate. At 19 years old, he purchased his first investment property while attending college and managing a Papa John’s storefront. In 2006, Owen earned his real estate license and committed to a new long-term goal to own a massive brokerage one day. As a successful solo agent, Owen closed nine transactions monthly and quickly became one of his brokerage’s top agents nationwide.

In 2011, Owen began building his dream by launching NRE to create opportunities for agents, but as they onboarded, he noticed a success gap. “I was hiring, supporting, training, and coaching them, but the failure rate was somehow high,” Owen said. To identify areas of improvement, he launched Nickle Team within his brokerage and investigated its processes. “I was searching for opportunities to develop our systems and guarantee more consistent agent success.” The team produced $100 million in sales volume within the first 18 months of launching.

Today, Owen’s dedication to his team’s success is unparalleled. He helps his new agents succeed in their first buyer consultations and listing appointments by personally attending the meetings. “I feel most fulfilled as a supporting role in the others’ journey to build a life in real estate that they couldn’t otherwise build.”

Although Owen loves creating systems, he knows building more and continuously updating them sacrifices time that could be spent executing growth plans. As he looks to the future, he understands his need for more systems to promote scale. Owen credits each big breakthrough he’s had in business to “completely surrendering to someone else’s process,” which is how a PLACE partnership came into the picture.

Owen is excited to plug his new agents into PLACE Launch, a 12-week program that onboards and trains agents so they can hit the ground running with tech, tools, and systems.
